Undoubtedly the main means of spreading Spiritism has become a point of reference and convergence for those who are surprised by setbacks with which they could not imagine. In the superficiality of their evaluations, they conclude that the spiritist practice is a mere instrument of rebalancing through the passes or other treatments offered in the Spiritist Centers, they suppose a meeting point between material and immaterial reality, the tangible and the intangible. A means where you can find healing or the way forward through the guidance of Spiritual Friends or Mentors as they say. Is it just that? This will only be the purpose of the Spiritist Doctrine. In a text presented in the November 1864 edition of REVISTA ESPÍRITA, Allan Kardecclarifies this doubt. He writes:-“Spiritism is not an individual conception, a product of the imagination; it is not a theory, a system invented for the necessity of a cause. It has its source in the facts of nature itself, in positive facts, which are produced in our eyes and at every moment, but whose origin was not suspected. It is, therefore, the result of observation, in a word, a science: the science of the relations between the visible and invisible worlds; still imperfect science, but which is daily completed by new studies and which, he is sure, will take a position alongside the positive sciences. I say positive, because any science that rests on facts is a positive science, not merely speculative. Spiritism did not invent anything, because what is in Nature is not invented. Newton did not invent the Law of Gravitation: this Universal Law existed before him; each one applied it and felt its effects, even if they didn't know it. In turn, Spiritism comes to show a new Law, a new force of nature: the one that resides in the action of the Spirit on matter, a law as Universal as that of gravitation and electricity, yet still unknown and denied by certain people, such as so were other Laws at the time of their discovery. It is because men generally find it difficult to renounce their preconceived ideas and, for self-love, it is difficult for them to agree that they were wrong, or that others could find what they themselves did not find. But since, in the end, this Law rests on facts and against the facts there is no denial that can prevail, they will have to surrender to the evidence, as the most recalcitrant had to do with regard to the movement of the Earth, to the formation of the Globe and the effects of steam. As much as they call the phenomena ridiculous, they cannot prevent the existence of what is. Thus, Spiritism sought to explain phenomena of a certain order and which, at all times, occurred spontaneously. But what, above all, favored him in these researches, is that he was given the power to produce and provoke them, to a certain extent. He found in mediums suitable instruments for such an effect, as the physicist found in the battery and in the electric machine the means of reproducing the effects of lightning. It is understood that this is a comparison and not an analogy. There is here a consideration of great importance: it is that, in his researches, he did not proceed by way of hypotheses, as he is accused; he did not suppose the existence of the Spiritual World, in order to explain the phenomena he had in view; proceeded through analysis and observation; from the facts he went back to the cause and the spiritual element appeared as an active force; she only proclaimed it after she had seen it. As a force and as a Law of Nature, the action of the spiritual element thus opens new horizons for science, giving it the key to a number of misunderstood problems. But if the discovery of purely material Laws produced material revolutions in the world, the discovery of the spiritual element in it prepares a moral revolution, because it totally changes the course of ideas and of the most deeply rooted beliefs; it shows life in another aspect; kills superstition and fanaticism; it develops thought and man, instead of dragging himself along in matter, of circumscribing his life between birth and death, rises into the Infinite; he knows where he comes from and where he is going; sees a purpose for his work, for their efforts, a reason for being for the Good; he knows that nothing he acquires here in knowledge and morality is lost to him, and that his progress continues indefinitely beyond the grave; he knows that there is always a future for him, whatever the insufficiency and brevity of the present existence, while the materialist idea, limiting life to present existence, gives him nothingness as a perspective, which does not even have as compensation the duration, which no one can increase at will, since we can fall tomorrow, in an hour, and then the fruit of our labors, of our vigils, of the acquired knowledge will be lost to us forever, often without having had time to enjoy. I repeat, demonstrating Spiritism, not by hypothesis, but by facts, the existence of the Invisible World and the future that awaits us, completely changes the course of ideas; it gives man moral strength, courage and resignation, because he no longer works only for the present, but for the future; he knows that if he doesn't come today, he will come tomorrow.”

I would like to know why there is so much evil in the world. Why are there people who take pleasure in harming and even killing their fellow man? How can we be good in the midst of lies, violence and misery? (Question from Adriana Regina)
Without a broader and deeper vision of life, Adriana, without the certainty of the immortality of the soul and reincarnation, it is not possible to answer your question. If life were the only one we are living (here and now) and there was nothing else after it, it would make no sense to live in a world where there are good and bad, with the good being the main victims. Considering this, everything would happen by chance: the good would be good because they are born good, the bad because they are born bad, and life would be the result of this uncertain coexistence, where the luckier would have the most advantage. Then it would all be over.
But that's not how we think. The most important thing for us intelligent beings is what we think of as life. Kardec speaks in O EVANGELHO ACCORDING TO SPIRITISM”, in the item entitled “O Ponto de Vista”. Try to study this chapter. From the materialistic point of view, Adriana, everything begins and everything ends here on Earth: whoever was happy, lucky for him; who didn't go, bad luck. This would mean that life is a matter of luck or misfortune, and that nature plays a big trick on us, deceiving everyone. In this case, it would give us the intelligence to try to understand the meaning of life, but, at the same time, it crushes us with the prospect of nothingness or our destruction.
Spiritism, however, points us to a promising future, saying more: that we are immortal, we already lived before this existence, we are living today and we will live later. The Spirit was created by God simple and ignorant and everyone marches in search of perfection, which is their happiness, their complete fulfillment, each one opening his own path with greater or lesser difficulty. As it is an evolutionary process – that is, one of constant improvement – we acquire our own individuality, and each of us walks at our own pace.
It is from this that individual differences arise over the course of incarnations. There are Spirits that are still in a little advanced stage of evolution, while others are far ahead. Here, on Earth, we are Spirits passing through a certain evolutionary range, but there are other worlds – some later and others more advanced than ours. On our planet, due to the stage of spiritual progress of its inhabitants, we still see great differences in the moral aspect between individuals, which makes you say that there are evil people in the world.
What we call evil, Adriana – that is, predisposition to harm others and make them suffer – is a condition of certain Spirits, who are in this world to learn from the good ones they live with, just as good and bad students live together in a school. But they, whom we call evil, are also our brothers, as loved by God (who is the Father) as each one of us, precisely because they lack spirituality, have not developed enough the feeling to experience the happiness that the peace of spirit provides.
The coming of Jesus to Earth, two thousand years ago, showed this well. Jesus, a Pure Spirit, had a divine mission in this world. He came to demonstrate that the way to human happiness lies in the practice of good (what he called love of neighbor) and that the bad (that is, those who have not yet managed to understand the effects of love) are ignorant and therefore do not know What are you doing. Jesus represented the supreme good and they, his executioners, the supreme evil.
The concern to follow the path of good, Adriana, is already very pronounced on our planet. This means that we have already taken significant steps in understanding the brotherhood that Jesus taught. But, in general, we still haven't managed to overcome the evil that exists in each of us (because we still have a lot of selfishness and pride). Even so, we are living with Spirits even more backward than most people on this planet, and whose presence on Earth, for them, is another opportunity to discover that love is the path to happiness. Evidently, we have a role to help everyone, starting with the education of children, who are new spirits who come to be educated.
Jesus is more concerned with what the good can do to help the bad to rise. Because of the absence or omission of the good, the Spirits, still dominated by instincts, are revolted and aggressive, almost always unwelcome in this world, where they reincarnated to learn. How many of these Spirits were reborn in an environment of violence and abandonment! As their needs are not being met – and in the face of so much ignorance and so much misery that exists in the world – they are even more angry, and the consequence of all this is a society with fear, cornered and insecure.
